Give Credit Where It Is Due | Caroline Makena | Citizen Support Mechanism

While the ongoing COVID-pandemic has upended life for nearly everyone, healthcare workers, first responders, and other essential workers have had to face more risks than most. We appreciate all those providing essential services during this time! Caroline Makena has been one of the many COVID 19 frontline heroes armed with not only her gun but also a sewing kit which since these COVID times, she has been using to make masks and distribute for free to the Elgeyo Marakwet community where she works as a police constable. She has been a beacon of hope in the region known better for cattle rustling and banditry by not only ensuring compliance to the set regulations but ensuring the safety of the residents amidst COVID.

If one looks at the endeavor with tremendous suspicion, he prevents himself from believing that others might still possess the integrity of their service.

As we all know currently countries are strongly absorbed by the real condition and issues around COVID 19 and never a time that the television sets are turned off for the purpose of public's benefit of latest news and updates about the processes and definite status of the government's effort to fight and soon purge the invisible enemy that exposed some dire inconsistencies that consequently aroused suspicions of the public itself. During this tough season passion and dedication, are the basic and chief qualities expected from any public official. These should be lively present in their measures towards the rising number of infections and other problems resulting from them. It is evident that citizens have been much preoccupied with the performance of the government and seem to ignore other positive aspects by key players in the pandemic. The great absorption, or normal attraction, or obsession, of the public eye to the inconsistencies of the government, the former has placed before hopelessness and suspicion without further scrutiny that the latter, referring to rare official/s who remained true and with integrity, has actually done otherwise. If one looks at the endeavor with tremendous suspicion, he prevents himself from believing that others might still possess the integrity of their service. I truly believe that there are still public servants who, like police constable Caroline Makena, remain true, dedicated, and with pure integrity in exhausting all the ways they can to fight and soon purge this crisis caused by the Novel Corona Virus. Let the public, therefore, give the credit to whom it is due.
