The Hero Guard, Lemisi | Citizen Support Mechanism

A perfect, calm afternoon it was for Dendrix Lemisi a former Senaca Security Guard at 14 Riverside Drive and everyone else who was on that scene on January 15, 2019. No one imagined the disaster that lied ahead of that warm afternoon.

At around 3 p.m of that fateful day, a deafening blast followed by rattling gunfire filled the air and all that could be heard and seen were screams while many running helter-skelter for their precious lives.

Staying out in the cold lonely nights, away from their families protecting and fighting on behalf of the entire nation are great acts of valor that deserve to be honored.

Lemisi who worked on the third floor’s control room from where he could monitor movements in and out of the Grosvenors building was the time he felt compelled to save humanity. He had a perfect opportunity to flee through the closest exit and run for his dear life but instead put himself in the line to help others out of the building under attack.

Equipped with courage and determination, Lemisi went from one room to another calling out to those stranded and led many to safety. Unfortunately, this could not go on for long as in the process of trying to save one woman who was stuck in one room alone, the terrorists spotted the two and started spreading bullets all over them. Dendrix died a hero while serving humanity.

Lemisi who sacrificed himself for the sake of saving others depicts how, Security personnel, guards, soldiers, police are a symbol of patriotism to our nation for their dedication and commitment to serve and protect us in different capacities.

Staying out in the cold lonely nights, away from their families protecting and fighting on behalf of the entire nation are great acts of valor that deserve to be honored.
